Hi everyone,
Hope you are all having a great week.
I have done some serious reflection since my "stroke". Still don't think I had one but my face is still numb.
It seems odd in a way to search what life is all about when you have faith in the one who gives us grace and mercy.
When you think that your life is about to end, you have different thoughts. I have thought of making a will, writing letters to my family, my husband. I am not sure if God is finished with me yet here on earth but I want to get all the important things in order-but I procrastinate. I haven't done these things yet. I am also trying to destress my life by making things more simple, less work. I work two jobs and one is quite stressful-I am taking a little time away from one until I feel more at ease.
I am also engaging in prayer. I know that Jesus still heals and He works out things for those who love Him.
I continue to put my faith in Christ to lead me and to guide me for as long as He wants me to remain on earth.
Put your trust in Him-He will never leave you or forsake you.
Blessings,
Sharon

Pain2
I haven't been blogging lately, thought I might while I am on the computer. this blogging takes thought and time.
I spoke of pain in the past and I realize this is a cliche' but as you get older, pain becomes one of the common normalities in ones life. I slipped on the ice recently-yes laugh, all you who have never tried it or make fun of our winters, we live in New Westminster, B.C.
Anyways, it wasn't until the next week that pain started shooting down my leg. I was having spasms in the lower back and then my leg went numb the next day. The following day, the side of my face, my shoulder, my hand, my butt, my leg and ankle were numb. The physio thought I was having a stroke!
The chiropractor and the doctor think I have a pinched nerve in my neck causing the numbness in my face, however, now I am being treated as if I had a stroke!
Okay, peoples, I am not having a stroke! Get over it! Or at least, I hope not. Everything will be fine, I put my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and hey, I know where I am going when I die.
When the storms in life seem to conquer your life, don't let them-give it all to Christ. He is the great redeemer, friend, brother, father, healer...
Luv you all,
Blessings

family
This blog was to be published on Mother's Day but I have finally put the finishing touches on it.
I recently realized that most celebrations could be revoving around family and so some of what I have said may apply to this Christmas season.
I am not sure if your children make you gifts or breakfast or give you anything. When mine were small and in kindergarden, grade 1 and 2, they use to make gifts for Christmas or Valentines, etc. However, now as they have gotten older, they usually don't.
I am not sure what my son's philosophy is but he figures you shouldn't have to have a special day to celebrate mothers, fathers. However, on Mother's Day, he and my daughter surprised me by cleaning the entire house. My son thinks I don't appreciate it but I do as I don't have time usually to clean the house. I have to admit I like it clean.
My husband and I went out for a barbecue to my sister's house. If you have read a previous blog, you might have guessed I was a little nervous as I wasn't sure if my sister and I were speaking to each other since the "incident" at Thankgiving. However, celebrating Mother's Day was a very pleasant experience; nice conversation, yummy food and there were no arguments. What is even more interesting is we will be sharing accomodations with my sister and her husband in August as we will be going on a family vacation to celebrate our parents 50th Annivesary.
I can add that went well. We have had celebrations since, including Thanksgiving this year at my sister's. Everything was excellant! I was very impressed with my sister-she made a gourmet meal, complete with a dessert a restaurant couldn't compare to-it was delicious.
Our pastor spoke about forgiving each other when we have a grudge or an argument. Jesus wants us to be humble, self-controlled, gracious, slow to anger, non-judgemental, able to Love each other.
In this world, we are given usually one family; it can be very difficult to get along; some families do not even speak to one another; let us try to get along able to forgive and not condemn.

Distressed
Have you ever felt weary, distressed, not sure how you are going to get out of a "jam". I do. It is so easy for us to try to "fix" the problem without anyone's help or advice. Well, I have comfort in the fact that I can always rely on the Jesus and His guidance in my life. Sure, you say that He is not real, we cannot see Him, how can He help us. He has left us with The Word, The Bible and its teachings. In this Bible are many dirrections for us to follow. When we are distressed or cannot face the day, He is always there to pick up the pieces and help us back on our feet.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matt. 11:28 (NIV).
I know that we are human and have a difficult time letting someone else help us with our distress or weariness. I know that it is difficult to put faith in something you cannot see, however, Jesus is just a prayer away and he will answer our prayers in His own way and in His own time.
"...always pray and don't give up." Luke 18:1b
If you are troubled and distressed and weary, don't give up, give it all to Him for he cares so much more than we know.
Blessings on you all.

pain
Pain! It hurts! Breaking an arm, scraping a knee, cutting your finger, burning your hand, having a baby, getting your nose pierced...too much pain. That is physical pain.
I had my nose pierce recently, and yes I have endured all the other pains, I spoke of. I decided on a whim, well going to get pizza for dinner, I would go get my nose pierced. I knew it might hurt but was not expecting the extreme pain that actually occurred while the piercer was putting the needle through the nose. Man, did that hurt. You know how you are to go to your "happy" place or a "quiet" retreat while the person is piercing you-well, I imagined Christ having the nails put through His hands and feet. That had to hurt!! If He could go through that pain, what was a little nose piercing? When I imagined Christ up on the tree, I felt numb. He did that for me. The agony that He bore. The blood that was spilt was for me. He also did that for you. He shed His blood so that we could have a "sin-offering", SO THAT WE COULD BE FORGIVEN OF OUR SINS. He didn't stay dead though, many think he did and many believe He didn't even exist but there are many facts and recordings of Jesus and His life and the miracles that He preformed. His death and resurrection are recorded in the Bible as well. He did appear to Mary and His disciples as well as to over 500 people before assending into heaven.
"He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering."...He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:3,5.
"Very early on the first day of the week, they (Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of James, and Salome)were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go tell his disciples and Peter." Mark 16:1-7, Mark 16:9-14, Luke 24:1-49, John 20:1-9; 10-18; 19-23; 24-31.
Yes, we endure all kinds of pain but Jesus endured it all for us. May you believe and have assurance that whatever kind of pain you are facing, you can give it to Him.
Blessings to you all.

tired and worn
Hi everyone,
I haven't been blogging for awhile. I got so excited that I even was able to open up a blog and blog! I have been busy and haven't been able to get on the computer as I have competition with someone else in my family for the computer. Anyhow, here I am again to leave a new blog.
I entitled it tired and worn, well, because I am. Have you just gone and done things not thinking of yourself and not taking time for you? Well, that's me. I end up doing to much and then I get sick, tired and worn.
Jesus says, "Come, all ye who are weary and I will give you rest." Matt.11:28 (NIV)
Sometimes, I don't think we "rest" in the Lord's grace and mercy. We rely on our own steam and fall short of the physical energy we need. Jesus can give us spiritual energy as well as physical energy if we just "plug" into Him. He renews us, re-charges us. He fills us with His power so that we can continue to worship Him and carry on our tasks here on earth.
If you are troubled and weary, why not reach out to jesus right now in prayer and ask Him to re-charge you.
God is closer than you dreamed.

Lessons in Life
Well, I have been thinking and praying. I also went to a union meeting. It looks like I will be joining the picket lines. I am sorry to say that but I need money to feed my family. I am sorry because it is a political debate that will probably not solve much. I do pray that the Lord will be in the midst of this situation and allow both the government and the teacher's union to come to some understanding and resolve.
I talked about grace yesterday. The Lord gives us grace each day, through each circumstance we endure. Because God is, there is grace...and because there is grace, there is hope...and because there is hope, we can put energy into our day, faith into our prayers, joy into our worship, confidence into our calling, and zeal into our step. God has something new for you every day. He delights in you and loves to surprise you with good things.
From the fullness of His grace, we have all received one blessing after another. John 1:16 (NIV)
May God bless you today!

Grace and fellowship
I think of how God uses our circumstances to give us more grace and mercy. In the Purpose Driven Life, we have been learning about fellowship and what that means. Encouragement was mentioned to build us up and keep us from deceitfulness and sin. I think encouragement is a hugh quality that we need in our daily lives. Many people are torn because they have been brought down by someone or something. Without encouragement, it is very hard to be lifted up.
Christ was despired, rejected by men, spit on, pierced for our sins...yet He encourages us to always pray and not give up. He told a parable regarding this in Luke 18:2-8. It tells about a woman who never gave up but kept persisting. Paul tells us in Romans 12: 9-16 to be devoted to each other in brotherly love. To honor one another above ourselves. Wow! How many people do you know that honor one another above themselves? It also goes onto to say be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer and to share with God's people in need. I wonder how many of us actually do this. To be joyful, no matter what comes our way. It has been a difficult week-I work in the education field and have been prevented from going to work because of a strike by teachers-I won't get into a debate about that because so many of you have so many views! It has been difficult because I have been restless with whether I should help picket-after three consecutive days we get $10.00 a day or do without any pay, whether it is logitically a right thing to do or not. I have worried, I have prayed. Needless to say, I didn't help to strike-I did not want to break the law and to eventually get $2.50 per day, it isn't worth it. You wonder what this has to do with encourgement. Well, I am encouraged through prayer from others and myself. I know that all things will work out to those who love the Lord. Romans 8:28 (Paraphrase of mine)
I was reading in Max Lacado's book; Grace For the Moment; He says this; To recognize God as Lord is to acknowledge that he is sovereign and surpreme in the universe. To accept him as Saviour is to accept his gift of salvation offered on the cross. To regard him as Father is to go a step further. Ideally, a father is the one in your life who provides and protects. This is exactly what God has done. He has provided for your needs (Matt. 6:25-34). He has protected you from harm (Ps. 139:5). He has adopted you (Eph. 1:5). And he has given you his name (1 John 3:1). God has proven himself as a faithful father., Now it falls to us to be trusting children. What better encouragement. God loves us and has redeemed us through Jesus Christ. Amen!
You may be decent, you may pay taxes, kiss your kids, abide by the law, sleep with a clean conscience, but apart from Christ, you aren't holy. So how can you go up to heaven? Simply believe. Accept the work already done, the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. If you are not a Christian or a believer in Christ, what better way to take hold of Him who gave His life for you! Stand before Him in His name, not yours. The cross was heavy, the blood was real, and the price was extravagant. It would have made us bankrupt, so He paid it all. It is simple, give your life to Christ. It wasn't an easy task for Christ to do. I like to remember it as "Grace"...for you and for me. We can grow in His love through fellowship with other believers by encouragement, love, honor, support. Will you trust Him today?

A child of God
Recently, Sunday we were learning about fellowship and that we are all children of God-those that have acdepted Jesus christ as Saviour and Lord. We learnt that Fellowship us Loving God's family, how we are to be encouraging, supportive, loving. It sure is hard to follow through with what is taught to you when you are with you eartly family, supposably enjoying Thanksgiving and dinner and getting together.
I was taking the turkey out of the oven. I carefully took the oven bag off the turkey and proceded to cut the turkey. It was flaking. My sister told me to cut it the way her husband cuts it. I should have gotten him to cut it. While taking the breast of the turkey off the bone, I accidently stabbed myself in the thumb. My sister got mad and then asked her husband to cut the turkey. I proceded to make the gravy and without thinking (I was feeling inadequate by this point), I put flour into a shaker, some broth but no cold water and shook it. It exploaded onto my hand, thus burning my hand. My sister became more angry and called me stupid-I do admit it was a stupid thing I did but I am not stupid! My mom made the gravy while I went to put cold water on the burn.
The next day, we were invited to another Thanksgiving dinner with other Christians that we know. I had a great conversation with the pastor of that group and was uplifted and encouraged throughout the whole night.
What a difference, even though my sister is a fellow sister-in-the-Lord. Sometimes, I think we let our humanism in the way and forget that God is there to lead us and guide us and give us the ability to love others when we don't want to.
"The person who loves God must also love other believers". 1 John 4:21 (GW)
