New and updated thought, March 16^th, 2021

Disaster

I had fallen at work, March 11^th. My legs are very sore. I have some scrapes and bruises but other than that, I think I will live. However, I am once again at that spot where I need to wait on God for healing. A very familiar scripture keeps running in my head, “Be Still and know that I am God” and Wait upon the Lord, He will renew your strength.” A very wise pastor and friend left me with a post about Being still.

Be Still                                             and know that                   I am God             Psalm 46:10

Stop talking                                         Stop doubting                    God is Almighty

Switch off your phone                    Be sure                                 God is in control

Stop commenting                            Have faith                            God is love

Listen                                                    No second opinion          God is King

Stop arguing                                                                                       God Is my hope, rock, fortress

Stop questioning                                                                              God is ever-present, a help in times of trouble

Stop moaning                                                                                    God is my Father

God is my shepherd- He will lead me, nourish me, protect me & restore me.

How many of us do what is under Be Still? Moaning, I think for me, is my always go to when I am struggling with pain or insecurity. I always seem to complain about certain circumstances. However, I do pause and reflect at what I could do differently. I do rely on God to “fix” the pain, the uncertainty. I do have faith that my God will allow me to be still and wait on Him. I do doubt, however. I need to be sure and know that God is in control. He loves us no matter what the circumstance or difficulty. I know for some; you may not believe that God is a loving God. That He does not care about you or your circumstances. But He does. You may not see it; you may not feel it. God is all around you, reaching out to you. He is by your side, even though you cannot sense His presence.

The other scripture is from Isaiah 40:29-31

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable, He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

This whole chapter is an encouragement to all who are weary, scared, tired, worried, etc. The writer pens this to the people of Israel to comfort them. It is written for all people to have comfort from distress. My God is a God of hope. That is what I rest on, a God of Hope. He will lift me up. He will strengthen me. He takes us as a lamb and rescues us. He wraps His tender arms around us. We can Hope in Him if we choose to.

I do hope that you choose Him even if you are not in a crisis. Rest on Him.
