This blog was to be published on Mother's Day but I have finally put the finishing touches on it.
I recently realized that most celebrations could be revoving around family and so some of what I have said may apply to this Christmas season.
I am not sure if your children make you gifts or breakfast or give you anything. When mine were small and in kindergarden, grade 1 and 2, they use to make gifts for Christmas or Valentines, etc. However, now as they have gotten older, they usually don't.
I am not sure what my son's philosophy is but he figures you shouldn't have to have a special day to celebrate mothers, fathers. However, on Mother's Day, he and my daughter surprised me by cleaning the entire house. My son thinks I don't appreciate it but I do as I don't have time usually to clean the house. I have to admit I like it clean.
My husband and I went out for a barbecue to my sister's house. If you have read a previous blog, you might have guessed I was a little nervous as I wasn't sure if my sister and I were speaking to each other since the "incident" at Thankgiving. However, celebrating Mother's Day was a very pleasant experience; nice conversation, yummy food and there were no arguments. What is even more interesting is we will be sharing accomodations with my sister and her husband in August as we will be going on a family vacation to celebrate our parents 50th Annivesary.
I can add that went well. We have had celebrations since, including Thanksgiving this year at my sister's. Everything was excellant! I was very impressed with my sister-she made a gourmet meal, complete with a dessert a restaurant couldn't compare to-it was delicious.
Our pastor spoke about forgiving each other when we have a grudge or an argument. Jesus wants us to be humble, self-controlled, gracious, slow to anger, non-judgemental, able to Love each other.
In this world, we are given usually one family; it can be very difficult to get along; some families do not even speak to one another; let us try to get along able to forgive and not condemn.
