This blog was to be published on Mother's Day but I have finally put the finishing touches on it.
I recently realized that most celebrations could be revoving around family and so some of what I have said may apply to this Christmas season.
I am not sure if your children make you gifts or breakfast or give you anything. When mine were small and in kindergarden, grade 1 and 2, they use to make gifts for Christmas or Valentines, etc. However, now as they have gotten older, they usually don't.
I am not sure what my son's philosophy is but he figures you shouldn't have to have a special day to celebrate mothers, fathers. However, on Mother's Day, he and my daughter surprised me by cleaning the entire house. My son thinks I don't appreciate it but I do as I don't have time usually to clean the house. I have to admit I like it clean.
My husband and I went out for a barbecue to my sister's house. If you have read a previous blog, you might have guessed I was a little nervous as I wasn't sure if my sister and I were speaking to each other since the "incident" at Thankgiving. However, celebrating Mother's Day was a very pleasant experience; nice conversation, yummy food and there were no arguments. What is even more interesting is we will be sharing accomodations with my sister and her husband in August as we will be going on a family vacation to celebrate our parents 50th Annivesary.
I can add that went well. We have had celebrations since, including Thanksgiving this year at my sister's. Everything was excellant! I was very impressed with my sister-she made a gourmet meal, complete with a dessert a restaurant couldn't compare to-it was delicious.
Our pastor spoke about forgiving each other when we have a grudge or an argument. Jesus wants us to be humble, self-controlled, gracious, slow to anger, non-judgemental, able to Love each other.
In this world, we are given usually one family; it can be very difficult to get along; some families do not even speak to one another; let us try to get along able to forgive and not condemn.

Distressed
Have you ever felt weary, distressed, not sure how you are going to get out of a "jam". I do. It is so easy for us to try to "fix" the problem without anyone's help or advice. Well, I have comfort in the fact that I can always rely on the Jesus and His guidance in my life. Sure, you say that He is not real, we cannot see Him, how can He help us. He has left us with The Word, The Bible and its teachings. In this Bible are many dirrections for us to follow. When we are distressed or cannot face the day, He is always there to pick up the pieces and help us back on our feet.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matt. 11:28 (NIV).
I know that we are human and have a difficult time letting someone else help us with our distress or weariness. I know that it is difficult to put faith in something you cannot see, however, Jesus is just a prayer away and he will answer our prayers in His own way and in His own time.
"...always pray and don't give up." Luke 18:1b
If you are troubled and distressed and weary, don't give up, give it all to Him for he cares so much more than we know.
Blessings on you all.

pain
Pain! It hurts! Breaking an arm, scraping a knee, cutting your finger, burning your hand, having a baby, getting your nose pierced...too much pain. That is physical pain.
I had my nose pierce recently, and yes I have endured all the other pains, I spoke of. I decided on a whim, well going to get pizza for dinner, I would go get my nose pierced. I knew it might hurt but was not expecting the extreme pain that actually occurred while the piercer was putting the needle through the nose. Man, did that hurt. You know how you are to go to your "happy" place or a "quiet" retreat while the person is piercing you-well, I imagined Christ having the nails put through His hands and feet. That had to hurt!! If He could go through that pain, what was a little nose piercing? When I imagined Christ up on the tree, I felt numb. He did that for me. The agony that He bore. The blood that was spilt was for me. He also did that for you. He shed His blood so that we could have a "sin-offering", SO THAT WE COULD BE FORGIVEN OF OUR SINS. He didn't stay dead though, many think he did and many believe He didn't even exist but there are many facts and recordings of Jesus and His life and the miracles that He preformed. His death and resurrection are recorded in the Bible as well. He did appear to Mary and His disciples as well as to over 500 people before assending into heaven.
"He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering."...He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:3,5.
"Very early on the first day of the week, they (Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of James, and Salome)were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go tell his disciples and Peter." Mark 16:1-7, Mark 16:9-14, Luke 24:1-49, John 20:1-9; 10-18; 19-23; 24-31.
Yes, we endure all kinds of pain but Jesus endured it all for us. May you believe and have assurance that whatever kind of pain you are facing, you can give it to Him.
Blessings to you all.
